What to know before you start
A generic cover letter rarely adds much beyond the resume. A good one explains the fit between a specific requirement and your actual work, in a professional voice. CareerPilot can create and save a targeted draft using the job posting and the background you supplied.
Open with a relevant reason
Name the position and connect it to one or two priorities from the posting. Avoid exaggerated enthusiasm or repeating the company’s marketing copy unless you have a genuine reason to reference it.
Use evidence in the middle paragraph
Choose one concrete example—such as improving a service workflow, leading a delivery effort or building a customer relationship—and explain how that experience relates to the target role. Keep dates, titles, impact and responsibilities accurate.
Close with a clear next step
Express interest in discussing the role, thank the reader and keep the close polite. Do not claim you were referred or recommended unless that is true.
Edit the AI draft before sending
Check the addressee, company name, role title, tone, spelling and every factual claim. Remove filler. If the application says cover letters are optional or not accepted, follow those instructions rather than attaching documents unnecessarily.
